Mountain gorillas are extremely rare with only an estimated 880 remaining in the wild. The Volcanoes National Park is home to the Rwandan section of the Virungas. Comprising five volcanoes, the Virungas are breathtaking and home not just to mountain gorillas but rare golden monkeys, a troop of which have been habituated to human contact, can also be visited.
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met and assisted to transfer to Best Western Premier Garden Hotel. Transfer to the airport for your short flight to Mweya. Spend the day exploring Queen Elizabeth National Park and enjoy a relaxing afternoon cruise on the Kazinga Channel, seeing a variety of birdlife and local fishing villages along the banks. Upon arrival check in at the Ishasha Widlerness Camp. Today, you drive along winding mountain roads and through rural villages to Kisoro, at the Rwandan border. The dense cloud forests of Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park are indescribably beautiful. They're also home to one-third of the world’s most critically endangered species – the mountain gorilla. After lunch you drive to Kigali, Rwanda’s capital. Day at leisure to explore this bustling, clean, and safe city, perhaps visiting the Genocide Museum. Transfer to the airport. Depending on the time of your departure flight, you may need to overnight in Kigali at additional cost.
