Your home for the next 3 nights at the luxurious Hemingways Ol Seki. This stunning private tented camp is your enclave of luxury in the wildest terrain of Kenya. 9 exclusive luxury tents with 270° panoramic views of the Mara plains. Located in the heart of the Naboisho Conservancy which borders the Maasai Mara Reserve. The conservancy limits entry to clients actually staying inside the area and offers an incredibly private safari experience.
The private conservancy is yours to explore as you wish and the game drives, night drives and walking safaris, all led by a team of fantastic local guides in their traditional red shukas, are intimate and private. And with only four other camps in 200 square kilometres, you see hordes of game, not hordes of tourists – just as it should be. There is no typical day at Hemingways Ol Seki Mara. The small camp offers personal service and is perfect for honeymooners, or couples and families. Every day can be tailored to you preferences, making your time in the Mara an unparalleled adventure.
The Maasai Mara is home to one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in the world and today you’ll begin to discover it. The region is deservedly famous for its big cats but is also a fantastic place to experience other wildlife including elephants, giraffe, zebra, antelope, impala, hyenas and warthogs.
After breakfast you’ll fly via Nairobi (Wilson Airport) to Malindi on Kenya’s coast to spend the next four nights in a sprawling tropical hotel on the edge of the Indian Ocean. Upon arrival you will be transferred to Hemingways Watamu - An iconic tropical paradise on the Kenyan coast sitting right in the middle of the pristine Watamu Marine National Park with its idyllic white sand beach and turquoise waters. The exceptional personal service and sincere charm of this established hotel has come to represent Kenyan coastal luxury to so many travellers for close to 30 years. Located on Turtle Bay within the protected Marine National Park of Watamu, Hemingways Watamu is a great spot for snorkelling and diving amongst beautiful coral and multi-coloured sea-life. There is so much to do here – learn to kite-surf; get your PADI certificate, take a sunset dhow cruise on Mida Creek, play a round of golf on the nearby world class golf course, Vipingo Ridge; or go on safari for a few days in Tsavo or the Maasai Mara. If that all sounds a little too energetic, relax around the pool with a good book as you work your way through our cocktail menu.
With over 600 species of fish flitting among corals, the Watamu Marine National Park is a veritable paradise for diving and snorkelling. Both can be arranged from the hotel. You may also spot turtles swimming ashore to bury their eggs in the sand, or even humpback whales during July and August. The town of Malindi is well worth a visit to explore the crumbling Gedi Ruins. Dating back to the early 13th century, this once-grand Swahili town is UNESCO-listed. Tree roots tangle with stone walls and branches overhang grand arches, as the remains are slowly reclaimed by primeval forest. Known as ‘Little Italy’ due to its population of Italian expats, Malindi’s streets are filled with gelato shops and pizzerias that are perfect for a sea-front feast.
After breakfast, transfer 15 minutes to Malindi Airport for regional flights, or 2 hours to Mombasa Airport for an international flight.
Optional Dayroom or activities at your discretion.
